Dinner date for two best friends

Tonight for dinner we went to a spot new to both of us, ClarkLewis.

We both had a mocktail of orange juice, cranberry juice, and sparkling water. It was good but a little too sweet for me.

We started by sharing a salad. The salad had a mix of spinach, radicchio, blueberries, grilled peaches, and was tossed in a vinaigrette.

Michelle enjoying her salad.

We shared the Sturgeon. I don't think I have ever had Sturgeon before. It was pretty good but we had to send it back because it wasn't cooked all the way.

We also shared the sorbet. It was a mix of cantaloupe and watermelon sorbet, with a small macaroon cookie and also a thin chocolate cookie.

At this point in the night I was feeling really exhausted from all the weekend activities, and all the planning throughout the week.

It was a picture perfect dessert on a 100 degree evening.

Kitchen is closed

I was a busy bee today. I worked most of the day and then in the afternoon I stopped at a friends birthday party for a bit. When I got home I attacked some much needed gardening. Next thing I knew it was dinner time and I knew I was taking the night off from cooking. So Jeff and I headed to one of our favorite spots, Pastini.

We dinner alfresco on the patio and started our meal with an appetizer of the grilled wheat levena bread with an eggplant spread and a fresh tomato brushetta spread. I enjoyed two small pieces.

I had my usual chicken artichoke salad with the dressing on the side and skipped the bread.

Jeff got the roasted lamb pasta in a marinara sauce.

Afterwards we spent the evening running some errands. It was a gorgeous night with the most perfect evening weather. Now it's home and relaxing with a little tv watching, while our neighbors have a huge high school graduation party. Complete with catering a dj, and 60 high school kids, should be a long night.

Dinner date

Tonight we went out to dinner. We went to one of our favorite restaurants Pastini's.

We usually don't get appetizers but their brushetta is so good. We had the country-style bread brushed with olive oil then grilled, served with a roasted eggplant spread and tomatoes marinated with garlic and fresh basil.

I had two pieces like this.

For dinner Jeff had the lamb cavatappi and I had the artichoke chicken salad with diced chicken breast and artichoke hearts tossed with feta cheese, roasted red peppers and olives, on a bed of fresh mixed greens with roasted tomato vinaigrette.

I picked out the olives and got the dressing on the side, and I also skipped the bread.

Dinner out

Spinach salad minus spinach
Tonight we went to dinner at a local restaurant we have been thinking about trying. A friend said how much they liked it so we decided to try it tonight. We went to Mi Familga wood oven pizza. I had a nice HUGE salad.

BABY SPINACH TOSSED IN OUR HOUSE MADE BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE AND TOPPED WITH ROASTED PEPPER BLEND, ARTICHOKE HEARTS, RED ONIONS, SUNDRIED TOMATOES, WALNUTS AND A DUSTING OF ASIAGO CHEESE.
* I got romaine instead of spinach (I don't really like raw spinach), I had it with grilled chicken, and I had them leave the walnuts off and got the dressing on the side. They forgot the cheese, so it had no cheese also. I also skipped eating the bread, I had a bite and was satisfied.

Birthday dinner with family

Harvest Garden Burger
Last night we went out to dinner with Jeff's Dad, Grandma, Sister and brother in law. Usually we don't eat out much, but this weekend we were racking it up, two dinner's in a row. We were celebrating my birthday from a couple weeks ago and Jeff's birthday which is Tuesday.

We went to Alameda's Pub for dinner. I had the:
HARVEST BURGER
Our own vegetarian patty made with our brewer's spent
grain, peppers, onions and seasonings.
* I had mine on whole wheat bread and skipped eating the fries. The menu didn't say it came with fries, if it had I would have substituted a side salad. Their was also a lot of bread so I only ate half the burger with the bread and the other half just the burger and toppings.

Jeff had the:
ALAMEDA DIP
Thinly sliced roast beef topped with ale-braised onions and
melted jack cheese on a French roll with rosemary-balsamic Au-Jus.

Last nights dinner with friends

Last night we went to Pastini's at Bridgeport village, it's an outdoor mall with really great shops.

I forgot to take pictures but I had the:
ARTICHOKE-CHICKEN SALAD
Diced chicken breast and artichoke hearts tossed with feta cheese, roasted red peppers and olives, on a bed of fresh mixed greens with roasted tomato vinaigrette
* I had it with the vinaigrette on the side to control the amount of salad dressing I used in order to control the fat.

Jeff had the:
LINGUINI WITH CHICKEN MARSALA
Creamy Marsala wine sauce, grilled chicken, mushrooms, tomato, garlic and artichoke hearts

And our friends had the:
LINGUINI PESTO POLLO
Grilled chicken, artichoke hearts and roasted red peppers in pesto cream sauce
(minus the artichoke and red peppers)
AND
LINGUINI WITH CHICKEN PICCATA
Grilled chicken sauteed with garlic, lemon, butter, white wine and capers

We all really enjoyed our meals, delicious!
