Tea oatmeal

This morning I tried a recipe that I have been wanting to make for a while, but I haven't had the right tea for. My original plan was to get some loose leaf tea from Teavana for this recipe. But I decided that what I had on hand would also work for my first try.

My plan was to make tea infused oatmeal, and fall is the perfect time for such a recipe.

Tea infused oatmeal (serving for two)
I started with one bag of Tazo Awake black tea that I steeped in 1 cup of hot water. After steeping for 4 min. I added the tea to 1 cup of oats and I added an additional 1 cup of hot water. To the mix I added some salt and a dash of vanilla that I thought would pair well with the black tea.

After cooking the oats for 5 min. on the stove the oats were ready. I made an extra serving to save for tomorrow morning.

After dinner last night we stopped at Anthropologie. I never realized what a collection of dishware they have, it was bowl heaven. I contained myself for now and only bought two, including this one.

I topped my tea infused oats with some pure maple syrup, 1/2 of a diced plum, and some Galaxy granola in vanilla almond.

The flavor of the tea in the oats was subtle but fantastic. I probably could have used two bags of tea but I also wanted to watch my caffeine intake, I'm very sensitive to black tea. I would love to experiment with this recipe and maybe use some fruity herbal teas.

The plum was also extremely tasty in the oats. Plums usually aren't my first choice in fruits, but maybe I have been missing out. These organic plums are amazing.

Vote for me to be the next Foodbuzz star.
