Pizza night

Tonight we decided to try making BBQ pizza on our barbecue.

I started with Tj' wheat dough spread out on a pizza stone that was coated with cornmeal to prevent it from sticking. I made my own pizza sauce with one can of tomato paste, 1/4 cup water, basil, oregano, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and garlic.

I topped the pizza with Tj's sun dried tomato chicken sausage, zucchini, red onion, roasted red pepper, pineapple, feta, sun dried tomatoes, fresh oregano and fresh basil.

The pizza wasn't as done as we thought. The dough was actually still raw, I ended up eating the toppings on this piece and the pizza went back on the barbecue for another 10 min . Well it's only our first attempt at barbecuing a pizza, now we know.

Anyone have any tips for making homemade pizza? Whats your favorite pizza toppings?

  2. Here's what I've found works for grilled pizza:
    1. Make smaller pizzas so you can cook them directly on the grill and easily flip them.

    2. Cook both sides of the dough first (brush each side with a little oil so they don't stick), then add sauce/toppings.

    Looks yummy though!

  3. You'll have to try it again and post a time and temp that works. It really looked good.

  6. That looks wonderful! Homemade pizza is the best. <3 I've never grilled pizza before, so I don't really know. I would suggest baking it halfway, then grilling it the rest of the way? I'm not sure. :P
