Food Rules part 1

I read the book Food Rules and wanted to share parts of the book that I found interesting.

Here's some of my favorite's from the book

* Eat food. Real food not processed engineered food.
* Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize. If you were walking down a grocery isle and your great-grandmother couldn't recognize what that food was. It's probably something processed or engineered.
* Avoid food that have ingredients that no ordinary human would keep in the pantry. Such as Cellulose, caramel coloring, red 6, Xantham, sulfate, and so on.
* Avoid foods that have some form of sugar listed in the top three ingredients.
* Avoid packaged foods that contain more than five ingredients.
* Avoid food products containing ingredients that a third-grader cannot pronounce.
* Eat only foods that will eventually rot.
* If it came from a plant eat it, if it was made in a plant, don't.

  2. It's nice to have this type of information. As a society we've gotten so use to fast and easy out of bag that we forget what real food should be.

My husband and I have changed the way we eat, but I still can't get him away from Velveeta.

  3. That's funny. Who knows what Velveeta even is? It's not cheese anymore that's for sure.
